Help!

Hello all,

I've not been using Sketchup & Maxwell for all that long.

I have designed the inside of some office buildings, yet when I render they take a significant amount of time to move up each SL. My benchmark can be as low as 2!

I'm quite sure this is due to the way I have set up the light sources. I have had as high as 300 benchmark when I've played around with the light sources, however I couldn't tell you how I've done it! I've spent countless hours looking it up, reading the forums, going through tutorials and I know I'm still missing something.

I'm wondering if someone would be so kind as to take a look at what I have to let me know where I've gone wrong?

Thanks,
Chris

Do you use on-the-fly displacement?

Hi,

I will have a look. I've often gone with whatever is preselected for the texture.

This is the scene after one hour. It is very dark and noisy. I have even resorted to taking the walls off from the opposite side to let some natural light in with no real joy.

To dismiss that a material is the cause, in Render Options you can temporarily override your materials with a default one. A benchmark of 2 is extremely low.

http://support.nextlimit.com/display/mx ... hUp+Output

Check there under the "Materials" section.
The Materials sub-panel is used to specify Override and Default MXM files. If an Override MXM is specified, it will be used instead of any materials otherwise defined in the scene, with the exception of emitters. This is useful for running quick light studies. If a Default MXM is specified, it will be used in place of the standard light-grey diffuse default material (i.e. the material used for objects which have no explicit material).
To select a "default" MXM, you can find one in the Maxwell install folder:
Code: Select all
Maxwell 3\materials database\mxm files\default.mxm
