Moving MXM Files

I want to move my Texture Files from the standard Materials Database location to a directory on another drive.

If I open a MXM texture from the original location and Pack and Go that texture to the new drive, the files and their associated textures move over nicely, but when I open the texture from its new location in MXED all the maps in the texture are still linked back to the original directory files, rather than those on the new drive. I have to edit every map to point to the new directory.

Am I doing something wrong? It seems to me that Pack and Go is supposed to alleviate this problem exactly, but I can't seem to get it to work.

Hope someone can help me avoid having to edit hundreds of textures individually.

Thanks,

Doug

Try to use the function "Fix texture paths" found in the material editor panel in Studio, or in MXED. This will ask to navigate to a folder with MXM files and their corresponding textures (textures should be in the same folder as the MXM they belong to), and after choosing that MXM folder, it will ask if you want to check all subfolders also for MXM files and fix their paths.

Alternatively you can specify different default texture paths in Studio and Maxwell preferences that will look for textures there if they aren't found in the path(s) contained in the MXM files.

Thanks. I did in fact set the alternate file path in Maxwell and that seemed to fix everything. Now when I call up the texture all the paths have been fixed in it and also in all the other MXM's as well. I had thought that would happen during the Pack and Go action, but this has solved it. Many thanks.
