Wireless network rendering

This is the situation, I have my Macbook retina (with no ethernet port, bootcamp running) which I want to use for rendering and I have another PC which also has a WIFI connection. Most of the time the scenes I send from 3ds max to the network won't start, but I've had a few occasions where they did. Now, the question is why is this sometimes working and other times not? (most of the time not)
The node on the assigned PC is stating NEW ORDER RECEIVED but after that nothing is happening.
The other two computers are working fine, they are connected via a cable.

I had a similar thing, MBPr as the controlling computer and many render nodes - only using WiFi. The WiFi speed proved too low, giving all sorts of problems, sending dependencies forever, so I succumbed, bought a switch and ethernet cables. Problem solved.

My wifi speed is not as high as I would like, around 16mbit/s, but it's high enough to transfer the small scene's I'm using. So it should work just fine, copying files is also working fine.
I could buy a Thunderbolt - ethernet adapter but those are 30 euro's and I would have to pull a ethernet cable. Besides that, this should just work

I thought so, too. But often, things just don't work as intended and you spend hours and hours of troubleshooting, which is costing you an arm and a leg for all that time you can't bill to clients.
In comparison, €30 for an adapter is easily absorbed into the total cost of the business.
