Material render issue

Hey guys,

I'm completely new to Maxwell and realistic rendering in general, and am having an issue I wondered if you could help me with?
I have a few materials from the MXM Gallery I used as a starter to apply to my models, which look fine in the material preview, but when I come to render them they look completely different.

This image shows the preview renders and then the render itself - the bright blue stones in the left hand yellow gold ring are meant to look like the dark sapphire preview, and the middle bright pink stones are meant to look like the ruby preview.

Does anybody have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Hi there,
I think it has to do with the attenuation parameter. You have the attenuation distance set to 1.35, meaning you are telling maxwell your stones thickness are 1.35 cm and that makes the stones look clearer then what you want at render. You have to check the thickness of the stones and set that value on the attenuation distance, which in your case would be quite smaller than 1.35cm...
Check it here http://support.nextlimit.com/display/mx ... Properties

Hope this helps.
Cheers.
