Shadowless Objects

I have an object that is "Hidden From Global Illumination". The problem that I'm having is that the shadow continues to be visible when it falls on a reflective metallic object.

You can download the MXS scene from here:

The reason I need this to work is that I have some annotation in my render and I don't want the annotation elements to cast shadows.

Cheers,
Andrew.

Another thing concerning "hidden from GI"... I noticed that an object that is hidden from GI is still recieving shadows. It would be helpful sometimes to be able to exclude from shadows too (crossed planes for trees or people, one for shadow, one for reflection).

Hmm, I did try that on my original scene and it didn't work. I see now that the difference is that my original scene uses Light Emitters whilst the sample scene I included with my last post uses Solar Lighting. Here's a version of the sample scene that uses a Light Emitter as its only light source:

I've got to say that this is difficult to work with, I get such different and random results depending on so many different factors.

Here my object is Hidden From Global Illumination but because of the Area Light, the shadow is visible on both the Lambert & Reflective materials:

Here my object is Hidden From Global Illumination and Reflections/Refractions and the shadow is only visible on the Lambert material. Remember that when I used Solar Lighting, the Lambert material did not receive shadows:

And here my object is Hidden From Global Illumination and Reflections/Refractions but I'm doing a Region Render and now everything looks as it should:

This is so inconsistent that it makes working with this feature quite frustrating.

These shadowless objects still appear to be a problem in the latest Beta v3.0.99.5

Andrew.

this problem also in v3.0.1.3
if you use hdri and set low intensity ; you see the shadow of the object hidden from GI with any material.
in this image ( test with v 3.1 beta ) the right cube hidden from GI and the intensity of environment = 0.1
