Displacement error with referenced materials

Is this a known bug, limitation or something else? When referenced, a material's displacement renders neither in viewport nor FIRE rendering modes; when embedded, it does. Nonetheless, the render proper shows displacement alright.

Works fine here. Are you using the latest release from the betas page? If yes, how old is this material and have you tried opening and just saving it using V3 MXED?

I'm on 3.0.1.0 still... I made the material and the textures it uses by myself yesterday, in MXED.

While at it; is it a bug or a feature that referenced materials can't show their texture in Studio's Viewport so as to be adjustable in realtime? It only works for me if I embed the material.
Also, when editing a referenced material in MXED by clicking Edit (making changes, creating a new high-quality preview) and then saving, the display in Studio does not show that new preview; there is no "Refresh" or "Reload" button, so one has to click "update" and wait again for however long one has set the timer. Shouldn't the preview of referenced materials update automatically once MXED is closed? Or am I missing a setting somewhere?
Tack!

I think the first one is a limitation since MXED doesn't have a live update feed into Studio, it's a standalone app.
For the second one, I think this can be improved yes.
Have you tried with .13 regarding the original issue? But in any case, a referenced material doesn't make sense to use if it has to be adapted per object use, so I would simply embed it, no big deal. Then you won't have any of the above two issues either.
