I'm trying a white sss material with sky/sunlight, the material is sign white acrylic, so it is translucent white and passes light through it. However, it is inducing lots of noise for me despite many tests.

Did you build that SSS material using the material types?

I have to search, I believe I did, but after posting a modified the default milk and got a clean render. I have the old scene so I'll check it out and see what was set wrong.

I've had this situation in a shiny plastic material...
Render to extend the time, but the problem was solved...I chose lighting with sunlight.

Hi b-kandor,
Try a rough dielectric glass (Roughness around 20-30%) instead of a SSS medium and check if it provides the look you are after and if the bright dots disappear.
