Texture color accuracy

Hi
I have several problems with texture color accuracy in mxed. Colors are very different between maxwell and photoshop: in mxed colors a more magenta and saturated. In Photoshop I use sRGB and the complete workflow is based on sRGB (but I tried other profiles with no results).
Obviously rendering colors are more similar to what I see in mxed so it's quite impossible to make a color correction of textures

How the hell color management works in maxwell render????!!!!! I have the same problem since version 2!!!

Can you help?

But if you simply load your texture in MXED, do the render, then open that render in PS, what happens? Do the colors in the textures look different again, or do they look the same as your textures do in PS (I mean open the texture and the render of the texture side by side inside PS).

This a very important topic you fired up!

Use linear workflow (LWF). I am also very picky with colours. I do work in ProPhoto RGB workflow. So I assume it's not very different.
1. All textures with colours come in PS and were checked in their basic profile.
2. Textures were converted to sRGB. Then the file is assigned no profile (colour should get much more saturated)
3. Rendered as usual with ProPhoto RGB and 1.8 gamma.
4. RAW file loaded into PS and checked

I need to write an in-depth article on this, but have no time actually.

*Note: step 2 - if maxwell sees a ProPhoto RGB image with detached profile it does weird things with it. You need to convert everything to sRGB before detaching the profile!
**Note: to match texture colours with a specific value do the render- fix - render process again and again until satisfaction - for example +20% yellow looks good - add to the texture map and render again.

Vizport, I don't understand your step 2, could you please elaborate? Because first, I would say 99% if not 100% of textures/texture collections you find online or purchase are in sRGB. So there is no need to convert to this. Second, how do you then "assign no profile" to the file?

In my case rendered image looks the same as opened in Photoshop, so I don't have to convert anything. This are my color settings in Photoshop:

@ Fernando Tella
your screen clearly shows you will have no issues as you constantly work in sRGB like most people do. All colour mapping issues occur if you do use other profiles. You should check ALL the boxes under colour mangement policies, so you see whats going on. Adobe preset is NOT good. Switch your RGB primary colour space to Adobe RGB or any other and you will see what is happening.

I spent days to figure out colour mangement with LWF and Maxwell and finally it works like a charm.

@vizport, why do you use 1.8 gamma not 2.2?

@AlexP
Well, it depends. For print you go on 1.8 for web or any related tasks you go 2.2.

I use similar workflow, but with AdobeRGB profile set as main profile (rendering in AdobeRGB too). That way there is no problem with detaching etc., only psd files from I export jpgs with textures have sRGB.
