Maxwell Image Control rgb min/max question - ?

Does Maxwell Image Control rgb min/max remap the values continuously, like setting a black and white point? (which I would use a lot)

Or does it just do the usual min/max floor/ceiling truncation thing?

Anyone know? I can experiment, but if someone has the answer handy...

It's simply limiting the output levels. So it's not like a black/white point adjustment.

Thanks.

I think the other way would be more useful for getting multiple uses from the same texture map in a material. Layer ask for one use, roughness for another?

Truncation (Levelling) is actually very desirable, the clipping creates PLATEAUED areas for bump maps/disp or EVENED areas for roughness maps, etc. etc.

But you can avoid the cut-off by interactively adjusting brightness + contrast....
