How does one add a backplate image to the background to render an object so as to look "on location"? I took HDR images for the illumination, etc. and a high-res still image for the backplate - but I cant find the slot where to load it.

Only works for spherical HDR images, no? Or must one convert the backplate RAW/TIF to HDR format? It's not illuminatin', it's only a backplate of which I noted object distance, lens, etc...

convert your image with maxwell render to hdr ; load it in the background and check screen mapping

You can check "screen mapping" (at the top of the panel) to make it a fixed planar background. It can get tiff too.

Thanks. TIF, PNG crashes, so I'm converting backplate images to HDR format. That works.
