Xfrog with maxwell? Preferably with Modo plugin?

First off, thank you everyone for answering my bombardment of questions.

We are looking at buying the Xfrog plant bundle but first, will it even work with maxwell? Or could someone explain the workflow for me, between modo and maxwell. I am just wondering because I don't want to run into texturing issues.

Has anyone used Xfrog with modo and maxwell plugin?

I posted this in the Modo section but never got a hit for 5 days. So I brought it over here, hopefully someone else will see it also. Otherwise, does it work with maxwell at all? I know I have read that it does. I could add the plants in the studio if I need to.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Cody

Hi Cody ,
they have some samples on their website you can download , including the modo format .
http://xfrog.com/category/samples.html

I haven't tried them myself , so I can't give you any advice beyond that.

Yeah I have used them with modo in the past, I just haven't had the time to try the conversion process yet. I am just on such a tight deadline basically my only free time I have to try anything, is basically asking on here.

Thanks

As far as I know the xfrog plants are pre-made objects under modo and not a plugin. So the conversion should work just like it does with normal modo geometries/materials. (But I have never tried X-Frog under modo).

I ended up saying screw it and taking the time to figure it out myself. It worked fine. But you have to go to each of the materials that has a stencil (mostly the leaves) and go to the stencil material and UNCHECK INVERT. Otherwise it will stencil out the leaf and leave the background.

Glad it works, thanks for all the input.

Batch invert the texture instead in something like XnView or other image viewer

The stencil inversion can be corrected from the plugin side, I will fix it.

I use XFrog trees with Maxwell all the time. I do not use Modo however. I use sketchup to import obj. Xfrog files into skp (using the fluidray obj/skp importer) then export the tree as an .mxs and finally insert them as MXS reference in my overall skp model.
