Recomended Textures Format

I have a 3D model that was provided with two sets of textures.
One set in PNG format, and the other in TIF format.
Both sets includes the alpha channels or masks embeded into the colour map files.
In the TIF format case the masks appears as a channel inside the files, but in the PNG format the masks are defined by a transparency in the image file main layer.
I wonder which would be the diferences of using one or the other in Maxwell materials, and which would be the recomended option for Maxwell.

Personally, I use PNG for it's smaller file size, but they both work fine.

Both formats are lossless, so pick the one you like.

I'm not sure but it seems that in rhino png textures load slower then tiff...
