Revit Plugin

Shoot,

I installed the Revit plug-in, and on my first attempt to start Revit, during the program boot up, I received the following error message:

"Failed to initialize the add-in "Revit Maxwell" because the assembly "C;\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit2014\Revit 2014Plugins\maxwell.dll does not exist".

I checked the directory tree, and the error message is correct; there is no "Revit 2014Pugins" folder.

But the "PlugIns" folder is there, and sure enough, maxwell.dll is sitting in there.

I think the clues are pretty self evident as to what could be happening here.

Any advise would be appreciated to help me mitigate this issue.

Thanks,

Moni

Hi Monica,

We've had reports of something similar happening when the installer cannot determine the Revit installation path, we'll release a new installer sometime soon so this doesn't happen anymore.

If want to fix this yourself before we release the new installer you can open C:\Program Data\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2014\MaxwellRevit.addin there should be a line in there that should look like this:
Code: Select all
<Assembly>"C;\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit2014\Revit 2014Plugins\maxwell.dll"</Assembly>
change it to have the correct path, so it should probably look like this:
Code: Select all
<Assembly>"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit2014\Revit 2014\Plugins\maxwell.dll"</Assembly>
and it should work after that

Radu

raduc,

It works a treat.

Thanks to your team, I now get to render directly in my architectural modeling app of choice.
Very wise and thoughtful for Next Limit to penetrate this market with a top tier package.

Since I am new to photoreal in general (I have been doing NPR digital watercolor for ages), and I am learning about Maxwell mostly through the eyes of 3ds and or Maya,
(Digital Tutors and the material available here) can I apply techniques found in those other apps that Maxwell plug into in Revit? And can I use Maxwell materials in Revit as well?

I only hope that Maxwell can transform the average Revit rendering from the toy like look
Revit is so famous for, to something more sublime.

Thanks for your help.

Post Script:

After I wrote the above, I immediately went into the program to begin exploring.
I attempted to test render a 3d window and I received a Maxwell Log message that stated
"Image output must be set before rendering"

So I clicked on Render Parameters and then a dialog box popped up that had the title
"Command Failure for External Command"

After that I can nothing with Maxwell.

Please see attached image.

There is a revit section to this forum, try asking there?
