Compatibility Question

If I export an .mxs in v2 format, can I open it in Maxwell Studio v3 and render it? Or will there be material incompatibility issues?

I really want to take advantage of the alpha mask options. I am only wanting to do this because the B-Maxwell add-on for v3 is not out yet.

I was holding out on getting v3 until it is ready, but if I can use the exported v2 .mxs in v3, I might just go ahead and get it now.
Thanks

Hi Asmithey,

Yes, Maxwell and Studio v3 can open any scene file, material or mxi image saved in older formats. What Studio 3 cannot do is saving that scene again in version 2 format, and it should show a warning before re-saving a older scene.

Maxwell 3 can render scenes in Maxwell 2 format (there is no incompatibility), but not the other way around.

Cool. Not worried about going back to v2 once the .mxs file is created.

Thanks
