Lovely. Using your instructions, I was able to reproduce the issue as regards MXED (with the exception that it did not crash at close), but I'm not able to reproduce this part, yet. So I guess, at this point, I can only say that we'll let you know more, once we know more.

I would suggest you use Studio, rather than MXED; to edit an MXM, use File > Open MXM in the material editor. If you are not able to open Studio:

• 1. Temporarily rename Maxwell 3\materials database\mxm files.
  2. Start Studio and open the Resources Browser panel.
  3. Click the "Browse" button, and select a directory not containing MXM files.
  4. Close Studio.

Step 1 allows you to open Studio; the folder I mentioned may not be the one you need to rename, though, if you have previously done what is described in step 3. Reason being, the initial directory for the Resources Browser is set in step 3: Studio remembers from session to session, which directory you chose. It is because this directory is being scanned at startup that the application is crashing at that time, so the point here is to make sure it is looking at a directory without MXM files at startup.



[edit: actually, I started writing this on a different premise; in fact, the same would work equally well for MXED, provided you also use File > Open MXM there as well, rather than using the browser tab to select MXM files.]

after checking v2 with an evaluation license I realised the update wasn't worth the money for me.

I stuck with v1.7.1 and vrayforc4d in most cases

I thought I'd give ot a try when v3 comes out


@Jdhill ... i will try via plugin. i don't like using studio actually almost
never used it. we'll see - hope this works soon as it would
be a major flaw. I'll keep u updated

We cannot reproduce it but we suspect what could be happening here, so after some changes we have reuploaded the installers, please download and reinstall (you don't need to license the package again) and let us know if the issue persists.
