just had a look at one of your renderings in another thread and when I saw the surreal-structures logo it somehow rang a bell.
Did you write the Rhino plugin for VirtuaLight?
It's a shame the plugin isn't available anymore. VirtuaLight would be a nice free rendering alternative to RhinoMan/Renderman. What are the reasons you stopped the project?

p.s. For those who never heard of VirtuaLight: http://www.3dvirtualight.com/
Hi Simon,

Yes, that was me. I became interested in VL because it rendered nurbs and the nurbs tessellation was much nicer and faster-rendering than the mesh version. The two main problems I had with the Rhino VL plug-in was lack of support for trimmed nurbs, and big problems with the Rhino 2 SDK regarding user/document data.

Even though I had decided at one time to simply export meshes and forget about nurbs, the problem with the userdata bug was something that I felt could be detrimental to people's files and workflow. At random, the file would blow up to 254 MB. The only way to restore it was to unload the plug-in, then load and resave the file. That was something I was never able to solve.
