Here are some renderings I'm doing so that I can figure out how to decorate my 6-yr-old's room (which he will eventually share). It's really fun to do this and then call John in to look at the pictures! None of these renders went for more than a couple of hours. The workflow is so easy when I'm working with Rhinoll. Textures are an issue though. Most of the white stuff will actually be douglas fir.

Here is the concept for the built-in dressers/desks:



Here I've added a wp border (the real one will have trains, but I couldn't get the bitmap to map properly):



Here I've added shelving and the start of bunkbeds:



Here I'm refining the bunkbed design:



Here is the "parokeet cam" view. The perimeter shelving will have grooves routed in the top surface for train tracks. My son can then stage his battery-powered Thomas trains from his bunk and let them run around.

It's definately starting to look good Fran your son must be happy about the design you made for him so far. Just one thing strikes me when i see the toy train thingy you have up there, it'll be a huge dustcollector..

Keep up the good work on this and i hope we get to see more of your son's room

Thanks! It kinda looks dusty up there already - thank goodness for the Swiffer Duster.

Oo.. and one more thing Frances, i've should have said it yesterday but it sorta slipped my mind as i were typing.

Nice alternates really and maybe you can try another color for walls

Thanks guys. This is a progressive series, so what will happen is anyone's guess and entirely up to my client - even though he is only 6.

I can tell you though, there is no way the walls are going to be whiter-than-white VRay white.

Here is an update. The 6-yr-old has made a color selection for the walls. I can live with it if he can.

It looks good Frances, the colors are so vivid and what a kid would select. Like pastels

But there's just one thing that really don't look that good.. the wall lamps next to the beds don't quite match the rest of the room. In a kids room those probably won't last long heh with the shade getting ripped apart and torn into pieces and tossed out all over the room.
Anyways i'd change the lightfixture to a differnt type but that's just me.
