HELP: Colour mapping in rhino

Hi all
I was trying to map a grid image onto a square surface in rhino (use diffuse material colour map), however, the rendering turns out that the grid only occupies 1/9 of the surface rather than fill up the whole surface. and it does this strange tiling and leave the most of the area untouched. any ideas??

the red highlight shows the original grid map. (tried both on alpha 1.33 and beta 1.2, same issue)
