Clearing virtual memory?

I am not sure if I am using the correct terminology. Here is what I would like to have a better handle on.... I have a feeling that Rhino/
Windows puts information into a buffer/RAM of some sort as I work. Often when I am trying to get the correct lighting etc for a render I may start and stop as I adjust different parameters. Often I notice that after I start and stop a render a few times, or even open and close large Rhino files my system will start to get a bit bogged down. Is there a way to clear this RAM? Thanks

It's hard to say, you would just need to open Task Manager and monitor the memory usage during your session. If the amount used for Rhino4.exe constantly increases (not just temporarily, but constantly and permanently) unrelated to the size of the model you're working with, then that would indicate a problem. Aside from that, starting and stopping programs alot will probably cause your memory to become fragmented, and parts of other apps you are using (i.e. Rhino) may get paged out to disk.

Thanks JD- I made the switch to 64 bit yesterday but I am still waiting for more RAM so it may not end up being an issue. I will open Task Manager and pay more attention just in case something strange is going on.
