Windows out of memory again...

I have a bit of a strange situation.... for me at least :).

Yesterday I ran a render of a brooch using an hdri for lighting. The render went well but I was not that happy with the lighting.

Today I imported the brooch into a light box- mxi gradient emitters- that I have used many times before with no issues. I ran a couple of test renders that went fine but I needed to adjust the lighting. After adjusting the lighting and rotating my scene, now when I render I get the message that Rhino is out of memory and must close- I get to about 30% mesh transfer before it closes.

I then checked to make sure that I had no intersecting emitters and I then lowered the resolution- still not enough memory. I then blocked all of my diamonds and exported blocks as instances..... still not enough memory.

I then noticed that my hard drive was getting full so I removed files, adjust the page file size and then re started my computer.

Now I get the same error message when I try to render the scene that I successfully rendered yesterday with the same brooch and hdri lighting.

Any of you guys have any thoughts on what is going wrong?

I am running xp 32 with 4 gigs (I know I can only access 2) with Intel Xeon 5120 dual processors.

I also used CCleaner to delete anything in my cache and still same result.

Thanks for your input!

Well, first - are you really running out of memory, or is that just what you're being told? You would want to try exporting with Task Manager > Processes up, watching the Rhino4.exe process to see how much memory it's using as you export. It's possible that some other error is being identified as out-of-memory; if I had to guess, I'd say: change your mesh settings and try exporting again.

I think that I was at the limit that my machine could handle. I changed the material for the floor- it was highly reflective and larger than it had to be. I changed to a more diffuse material and reduced the size of the floor and it exported o.k. Strange that it worked when I had the pin oriented 90 degrees.... Time for a computer upgrade I guess! Thanks
