real scale and cylindric objects

when having rounded objects and realscale i get weird textured parts on my object:

is this my fault or how can i fix it?
i must admit that i'm not very good in texturing, that's why i love realscale, because on not rounded object it works really great and fast. so i can avoid having to adjust the texture for every object ...

Hi Kami

I think that's an unfortunate side-effect of the Rhino-mesher... I don't know if it's much you can do right now. I'm just waiting for V5 WIP - with an , hopefully, improved mesher.

Yes, that's one factor. The other one is that real scale will never work optimally on non-rectangular objects, or more accurately, on objects which need a projection other than planar or cubic. Reason being, the measurement of a cylindrical projector is really in degrees, so the actual size of pixels projected on the object is dependent on the distance between each point on the object and the projector's origin.

...just to add my two cents...

my guess is that the 3 lines you see where the texture looks distorted, are actually the corner of the projector cube.. not really a meshing error.

maybe surface projection gives better results on a revolved object like that...

thanks a lot! that was a good clue. by adjusting the mesh density and making it denser, these lines almost disappeared. a very practical solution if one needs a quick workaround.
