architectural glass

Hi,

I'm working on a 3D-model and I have a question considering the best setup for architectural glass.
for outdoor views: Do I use a solid with a thickness (e.g. 2cm) or just a single plane?
for interior views: Is a single plan (+ AGS glass) the best way to avoid really long render times?

if you use just a single plane, you have to use ags.
but if you model it with it's real thickness (2cm is fine in my experience) you can use real glas.
for me, both solutions work fine for exteriors. for reasons of simplicity, i mostly use ags. also because it's easier to control the reflection strenght and its color

I do always use single planes for glass, because it's faster to model and I would like to use the same 3D-model for interior views. So if you say both are similar in realism and render times this propably would be the best option.
Also, I want to put some emitters in the building for an evening or night view. Are there any tips or tricks I can use for the setup of the glass and emitters?
