I am currently suffering from sore index finger from computerwork with rhino/maxwell (10 hour days). I ve just bought a bamboo tablet pen pad (yesterday) which helps the sore hand but its not great for zooming in and out as I am having to scroll with left handed with my old mouse for that which is interesting! ... not great but less pain. Has anyone used these mouse pends below?

do anyone use one of these for rhino work?

I need to use something were my fingers not str8 or stretched out all day.
do any of you users recommend anything else on the market... worried that this can really slow my work down at the moment.

thanks,

Yes, I agree. A spaceNavigator + mouse is unbeatable. If you have problems with RSI or mousearm, I can warmly recommend the Evoluent vertical mouse. It has made a great difference for me.

But then, without having tried it - the wow pen is based on a medical analysis which I belive is solid.

I reckon the space navigater thing looks exactly what I am needing! The space explorer looks good but may still have my hand in a position thats a bit painful (this sounds so ridiculous cos who would think just holding a mouse could have that effect!). So this bamboo pen combined with the navigator will I think be just the job. Again the vertical mouse I think will maybe have the str8 finger thing which I reckon need to stop for now. I thinking that even if I alternate between options it will just all help. Your advise is great its nice to know theres people sharing the same stuff out there. I work on my own from home so advice from others is great.

I am off to order one now! thanks, r

Hi Robin,

I use a space navigator and it is quite cool stuff. I think it is well invested money and your hand can relax...

just experiencing my space navigator for the first time. To be honest I now feeling travel sick!

I been flying around for only about 5mins. The first minute or so I thought I ll never get used to this but after a couple of minutes you start to realise the controls and then become quite accurate after about 5 mins.

My new bamboo pen thing however in conjuction just aint working for me.... double clicking is not very controlled and draging a box to select doe snt seem to work ....it will only draw a selection box of a few mm then vanishes. I messed around with the control options with it but I am thinking its just not something I can work with. Perhaps a better quality of wacom pen would have been better? Also because I work on two screens It splits the tablet which is already small into two sections... its customisable but just doe snt show potental for how I work.

So I ve ordered that wow mouse thats basically a grip style mouse with normal button configuration which I hoping will be a killer combination!

I off now to fly around rhino... I ll wait for my stomach to settle before I eat my breakfast though,

thanks guys,

my wow mouse has arrived! Its real jerky when going across the screen. My intellimouse thing that I normally use is fine .

But I ve also tried other mice in as well and they are also jerky. The wow mouse on my old computer works real good! Just need to get it to be smooth on my newer machine.

can advice from the outer world?

thanks,

What are screen resolutions on your old and new machine? Regarding small wacom tablets - they are best with resolution up to 1280x1024. 1600x1200 is on the edge...

So the wow pen doesn't do the trick for you, which model is it, they have three different?

this is the wow pen link above... great on my other machine! my other machine is not a large cinima screen though. Its 1280 by 1024 on me old machine 19 inch.

new machine is 22 inch and if I set it at anything other than the highest res then its real blurry and the mouse still acts the same. On the mouse settings in the control panel it lists several mice including my intellimouse but not the wow mouse to alter any settings. Its just that the cursor flys to beyond to where you want it to go and its slightly irratitic and difficult to use precisely! nothing ever simple is it!

navigators great but I ve spent all day with me old mouse and a sore hand so I am not much better off!

I use this Logitech Trackball- I had Carpal Tunnel really bad from mouse work and within a few days it started getting better after using this trackball. If you do some research about mouse movements and carpal tunnel it should help, if the wow mouse has similar wrist movement just with your wrist in a more natural position it may not help that much. These are pretty cheap and have really helped me.

I am going to check out that space explorer mouse because it looks AWESOME!!! Thanks for posting guys. Good luck with your Carpal Tunnel it is tough but you can beat it!!
