#278652
I have come across this a couple of times when searching through old posts about jewellery rendering- and wonder what effect hiding my emitters from the reflection/refraction has and how to actually set my emitters so that they are hidden from reflection/refraction. I have searched the manual but couldn't find any mention. Any tips?
Thanks

Select your emitter and go to the Maxwell Object Properties, then check Hide from relflections/refractions. I tried it two days ago for one of my rendering and it works really well.

Not to be a dunce but where do I find that Maxwell Object properties? I selected my emitter and went to object properties inside Rhino but I can't find any toggle for hidden reflections/refractions. Could you point me in the right direction a little more? :)

In the pull-down at the top of Rhino's object properties window - you will find the Maxwell Object Properties page there.

Also, rather than using per-object flags, you could make the emitter material itself invisible by adding a BSDF with Nd=1.0 and Transmittance=[255,255,255]. In the context of our previous discussion, the meaning of these parameters would be:

Nd=1.0: objects which use this material do not refract light
Transmittance=[255,255,255]: all light (this is what white means to Maxwell) passes through objects with this material
