Very nice. I like those gears and the casual placement of the parts
Your lighting setup could be a little better.
I see you are using a sky and a sun. Did you consider a studio setup ?

Thanks Iker.
Hi Thomas,
Thank you very much for your comment, indeed I need to practice more with my environment setup.
I’m rendering a new one right now using a more studio like setup.
Should I use Sky Dome without the sun or no environment at all?
It seems that when I use no environment my render stays black
Thanks, Nico.

You can use a skyDome (not to high value) with some emitters for example, without sunlight.
..remember to check normals of the emitter surfaces.

Hi guys,
I have been practicing with the tips you gave and here are two renders with the result so far, I am getting the hang on it on how to use DOF an F-stop.
Right now I am rendering a new version of the second one using a shutter speed of 1 and f-stop 32 to get a brighter render
ps, here is a screen of the render i'm doing now:

Here are two renders just to show the difference between standard flamingo material and settings and Maxwell

ghgh the level of realism of Maxwell is on another world than Flamingo!
nico, nice renderings, especially the last ones! what kind of settings did you use for the floor material? and what are the camera settings for the black/red gears image?
*cheers*
