Hi!

Is there a way to make an object hidden to alpha?

Basically what I want to do in one pass is:
- Render an object standing on the floor.
- Render a shadow channel with shadow enabled for the floor texture.
- Render an alpha channel without the floor.

In post production I want to cut out the object with my alpha and add the shadow channel to the background. This works if I render first the Render and the shadow channel with the floor geometry and then the alpha channel without floor. Because this will be an animation, it would be great if that worked in only one render pass too!

I tried hidden from camera for the ground plane, but then the shadow channel isn't rendering the shadow on the floor. Is there a function like "hidden to alpha" or an other way to do what I want?

Thanks, Andras

Hi Andras,

I don't think there's any setting to do that, but there may be a way (I don't know, I don't really do much compositing). I'd re-post the question in the regular Maxwell forum so you can get input from a wider range of people.
