Abbe and ND values

Hi all,

I have a dumb question: what do the abbe and ND numbers mean in the dielectric materials properties? Now that we have them in Rhinoll it would helpful to know what they are to take advantage of them. Do they have something to do with index of refraction?
TIA for your responses.

ND= Refraction index
Abbe= Chromatic Aberration number

Thanks, iker. That makes sense now.

Thanks, Thomas for the links that is exactly what I needed. Apologies for taking so long to respond, I will check back more frequently so as not to miss anything.
