drag and drop materials to layers

is this something new. It was working before with the old plug in, now I drop the material into the layer and nothing..

Doesn't seem to be a problem here. Can you still drag-drop onto objects in the viewport? If not, uninstall/reinstall - part of the plugin has been damaged. Otherwise, please let me know which version of the plugin you're running, which version/SR of Rhino, which OS.
