Dear Rhino friends,

Here is something a lot of you have been waiting for (I know I have ;) ), Maxwell Animation via Rhino!
Here are two animations I made in Rhino 4 using the new unbelievably great Rhinoll plug-in made by our good friend Jeremy Hill

Come and see at YouTube:

Very cool stuff Nico & JD  but animation in Rhino.. how ?! does it require Bongo or something else or has it got it's own keyframing tools now. Some more info would certainly make me stop guessing.

Btw, what was the rendertime on those anims ? it must been huge..

Hi guys,

I have used the standard Rhino animation tools, renders took about 20min per frame.

Hi Nico

Thanks for the info :) so the standard tools eh.. those must be in the new beta of Rhino 4 (i haven't got a chance to use a new beta in months).

And only 20 min per frame sounds little, i assume that's with Maxwell 1.1

Good job! :) it sure is getting exciting now as the releasedate of the plugin(s) and 1.2 is closing in more and more with each day that passes by..

I'm happy you like it. :)

On a related note: the plugin knows how to cache the .mxs meshes, so these camera animations are exported very quickly, e.g. up to around 10 per second, really only related to the actual file-system time of saving each .mxs file. There's no need to rebuild the .mxs meshes when the geometry hasn't changed. Same goes for standard renders: if you're only making material/camera/environment changes, there's no need to remake the meshes...that only needs to happen when you add/delete/move geometry...otherwise the render can start up immediately.
