Adam good to see you on here. I see your posts all the time in the c4d forum at cg talk. I post every now and then under elagman over there. I will be testing maxwell with Rhino also (seems like I have been waiting for ages. Like a kid at christmas). Looking forward to seeing what you can get out of maxwell in Rhino. Post any good tests that you get please. Your work and advice is always top notch.

What's more, removing the material from one or both objects doesn't clear the problem; you have to close and reopen Rhino to recover access to Maxwell.
Hi Adam,

Thanks for discovering this - it was driving me crazy! Once I reorganized all my objects according to layers, I selected All and cleared the Object name field in Object Properties. I selected objects by layer and applied the materials that way.

Found another bug. When I create a dielectric material and change it from the default crown to say polycarbonate it does not change it. When I go back to edit the material it is on crown.

Also there are like 5 choices for color of a material. Which one actually controls the color. The material creation needs to be more streamlined, but I am sure you are all aware of this. Its only an alpha plugin that got put out a day ago.

Can Rhino have the same mesh serial number for several objects in the scene?
The dielctric material has a bug. It's have added to the list, thanks
Please can anybody upload any scene with the
"Maxwell Error: Material already exists"
error, to debug it.

Thanks
Hi Pablo,

If you are referring to the Object ID of a mesh, they are unique. But Rhino will let you have several objects with the same name.

The bug is easy to produce. Just create a scene with more than one object, select them all and give them the same name in Object Properties. You will get the material error when you try to render.
