Having fun with dielectrics! Gotta love the caustics, especially those inside the dice at the lower right corner. This is the polyurethane material with an IOR of 1.6 and a bit of UV roughness. The refraction within the dice looks good, too.

Tiny bit of de-noise done in Photoshop.

Settings:
Camera: 50mm, 1/20, f24
1 emitter to left - coolwhite 100 (power - what are these units exactly?)
Sky dome (RGB 216 208 255) at 50
bounces 48 (I had lots of time)
burnt 0.8, gamma 2

20 hours to reach 20 samples running on my 1.2 GHz Laptop (desktop is tied up with another render of my rapier).

Still trying to get the hang of lighting these. It sure would be nice to know how the various emitter units (Excitance, Intensity, Power and Radiance) relate to actual standard light sources.

Anyone got any hints on lighting a correctly scaled studio set up for small product shots like these dice?

C&C welcome.
