It seems to me, that the great feature
working with multi-light in Photoshop for macuser isn´t really
operable.
Trying to open files with 5000x3500px takes awfully long
without any status dialog.
It would be very helpful if there´s a bit-depth-dialog as like in windows.
I guess opening a mxi-file will be faster, isn´t it?

In the meantime, is there any workaround?

Internally, the MXI is 32-bits, different output bitdepths doesn't changes the loading time (maybe a little bit, but I can't even say right now which is faster, 8, 16 or 32). The data you have to read from file is always the same.

MXIs loading is not just read a file, it requieres a proccess to obtain the RGB image, so using EXR/TIFF/PNG etc will be always faster. You can save images from MXIs using MXI batch processing option from Maxwell, and load them in PS instead of MXIs.
