Description:
This is a bug with the maxwell plugin. It adds maxwell items to any scene regardless if you add maxwell items/materials/envs to the scene or not which gives off errors when opened with another modo which doesn't have maxwell plugin installed.

Steps:
Install maxwell plugin
open modo
note maxwell menu is accessible
create new scene
save scene
close modo
remove maxwell plugin (You can simply remove the maxwell config from the Configs folder)
open modo
try to open the saves scene
You get a number of errors
1-Load Error: Unknown Item Type
maxwell.object
Skip This Type and continue loading?
2-Load Error: Unknown Item Type
maxwell.camera
Skip This Type and continue loading?
3-Load Error: Unknown Item Type
maxwell.environment
Skip This Type and continue loading?
4-Load Error: Unknown Item Type
maxwell.render
Skip This Type and continue loading?
5-Load Error: Unknown Item Type
maxwell.light
Skip This Type and continue loading?

Workaround:
Must remove maxwell plugin every time the user anticipates creating a scene which will not use Maxwell in.

Hey Yazan (Hi there from the Modo forum!), this bug doesn't happen to me, I can test it quite easily as I have Modo installed on two computers, only one of which has the Maxwell plugin.

Try this file that I uploaded today, created on my main machine which has the Maxwell plugin installed:

Hello Yazan,

It is not a bug. Plugin assigns its channel packages automatically to the scene items (without the need of user interaction). When you save the scene and load it on another computer (without Maxwell plugin) modo can't "understand" these packages without the plugin, so it converts the package channels to simple user channels (otherwise no harm happens).

If you don't like this automatic mode, you can disable it: just go to the plugin window > preferences button > Workflow > Auto add Maxwell packages control and turn it off.

I hope it helps!

Márton

Edit: you can remove all the Maxwell packages from the scene if you go to the plugin window > more.. button (below Add, Remove, Reset buttons) and select Remove Maxwell properties from scene items. (unfortunately modo crashes sometimes when you want to remove a channel package)
