Network/monitor wishes

- Ability to restart render jobs.
- It should be possible to assign or remove nodes from jobs
- More detailed information in monitor about render jobs.
- Monitor should render jobs in the assigned order automatically, and not go to the latest assigned.

- Ability to render all cameras in a scene.
- Ability to write parameters that removes a lot of typing when starting a render. Example [F]_[C]_[D]_[N].png = File name_Camera_Date_Incremental number.png

- Stability. The 2.0.1.0 patch was a big improvement, but the stability of the network render environment is still not good enough. I have given up cooperative rendering with images with 2000 pixels or more.

Most of these issues have to do with the Maxwell Network Rendering system, not the formZ plugin for Maxwell.

So that your voice is heard, we recommend re-posting this to the Network Rendering area of the Maxwell forum.

Hopefully we will see some better integration between Z and the network rendering environment.

I would like to see the ability to send a file to the network from within Z. Currently you have to choose "Launch Application: None", write the MXS, and then switch to Maxwell Network Monitor, chose "Add" and then navigate to the MXS.

I could see the following:

1. in Z, under Maxwell Render: Options: General tab, under the "Launch Application" drop down, add a selection for "Network render"

2. when Maxwell Render is selected from the display menu, the MXS is written, and then

3. if not running, Network Manager & Network Monitor are launched

4. "Add Network Job Wizard" (from Maxwell Network Monitor) is launched with MXS/MXI/Image file info already entered.

The only thing I see missing from this is where the user specifies single, co-op, animation or batch job. Should this occur on the Z side? It seems smoother if it occurs at the Maxwell side, yet this data is entered into the "Add Network Job Wizard" one pane before the MXS file paths are displayed, so a little thought needed here. Perhaps the screens could be re-ordered.

Hi Gary,

I agree that these functions would be terrific. Unfortunately, the Maxwell Network render system does not currently support the functionality that would make these things possible. If these are added at a later date, I will do my best to take advantage of them in the formZ plugin.
