#385416
Hi,

I've just noticed a small issue where you have a grouped object, say a wall, with a mixture of materials applied, but with some faces having the default sketchup "plain" material. When exported to Studio, the default faces without a specific material will be assigned a material already applied to the object, rather than just plain white.

It is worth noting that when rendering from Sketchup, the walls render correctly with a plain white material. This occurs where there is no actual default, or override material specified in the scene manager. The image also continues to render correctly if resumed from Maxwell Render, even thought the mxs file when opened will have this "error".

I spent some time fretting about this as it would have implications when using a render farm. Once I realised and applied my usual white wall material, everything worked as expected!

The moral is, make sure all your scene objects have materials applied if exporting to Studio!

Faces that have "no material" will indeed be exported as such in the MXS file, and will be given a default material by the renderer. The default material will either be one explicitly specified in Output > Materials > Default, or it will be taken from an MXM (usually named default.mxm) which is expected to be found in your Maxwell 3 directory, or in the plugin's res/mxm directory.
