Maxwell Grass in SKP

Is it possible to use a gradient map to vary the color of the grass? I have been duplicating the group and assigning different color / length etc... but wondering if anyone has another way to do it?

Please see the "Example 2" section on this page, where it describes how to use a texture's Channel parameter to control how it is used in mapping Maxwell Grass.
