I get two questions:

1) About Fresnel effect in reflections: I always use AGS preset for my Archviz window glass. With this setting the only reflection parameter I can set is Nd. it changes the global reflection of the glass, but how can I control the Fresnel effect: I am even asking myself if there is a Fresnel applied... Glass should be very transparent when in front of the window(90°) and very reflective when seen from side (0°)

2) About Pure white color: I set a sketchup texture to max white...when I go to maxwell, type is set to automatic and the material appears with a white color that is very near the one I get in sketchup screen. But as soon as I switch to any other type (even simple plastic or laquer) the white becomes grey...

Those two points are common CG archviz important things we get to deal and in Maxwell I need to improve my knowledge to get more control
thanx to help

Hello archigrafix,

Maxwell can automatically calculate the Fresnel effect corresponding to the Roughness value (using the real Fresnel equations), meaning that if you have a 0% Roughness AGS glass, Maxwell will distribute the transparency and reflection differently at different angles, as it happens in the real world.

To do this, just make sure your glass materials have enabled the option "Force Fresnel". When this option is enabled, the Reflectance90 color just indicates the hue of the reflectance at 90º and the intensity of reflectance at 90º will come from the Fresnel value.

Greetings

Thanx for helping Dario

But I dont get all those options in Sketchup plugin...So you mean I should tweak the material in Maxwell editor? And how about the Nd value, does it do anything for Fresnel?

On the first question, no, it sets the Nd, which in Maxwell, directly controls Fresnel. Make a white AGS material, set Nd to 4, then to 1.51, and compare the reflections you see with each value at direct and grazing angles. On the second question, if you need more control than is provided by the simple materials interface of the plugin, the intention is that you would use an MXM and link to that instead.
