Maxwell Render | Official public forum

I have the Maxwell Render Sketchup Plugin 2.6.10 - I paid for the License and I can register it but when I reboot my Laptop it reverts to the free version with no Production Engine. I have to reinstall Maxwell Render to re-register. Then go throught the whole registration process again and again.

I have windows7 and Microsoft Security Essential. I assume Maxwell Render is either writing the license to an improper location or windows is blocking it from writing it.

Help!!!!!!!!

The license is tied to the user account -- is it possible that you are starting up under different accounts? Also, the license is tied to the machine's MAC address, which comes from the network adapter. Are you using different network adapters (i.e. wifi, lan) during different start-ups? The licensing application is supposed to be able to handle this, though it may require multiple validations. Whatever the case, I do not write the licensing application, so if this does not help, I suggest you contact the support desk through your user account.

I wish it were that easy but the laptop only has 1 login and I always connect through wifi.

I'll try technical support , I was hoping someone had a similar experience and found some kind of setting in the antivirus or windows setting to all full permisson for Maxwell Render. Or maybe it was something much easier.

Well, what happens is that if the validation is successful, a license file is written in [user]/Documents/Maxwell. It's a hidden file, so you'd need to view hidden files in Explorer to see it. If that file is not there, and/or if it is not valid, then the plugin is not going to go into licensed mode. If, on the other hand, the plugin *has* gone into licensed mode, ever, it means that the process was successful. And if so, then something has to change for it to fail later...the network adapter, the user account -- something. Because it was valid once, and once that is the case, there's nothing the plugin can do to change it. Something external to the plugin has to change.

If you go to [user]/Documents/Maxwell/SketchUp/logs you should find a file named licensing.log -- please send that to me at my email address, which you can find below this post.

How do I get to the support desk? Seriously, I've tried every link that was emailed to me and I can't find a place to post the question.

My Mac Address can't be changin my Linksys Router has MAC filtering enabled and only allows specified MACs to access.

Hy HP is equiped with Intel Wifi ProSetTools and Intel My Wifi could this be creating a virtual network because I belive it suppose to allow the laptop to be an access point.

Someone out there must know something

Thanks for the licensing info. Like I thought, it's definitely a MAC issue, though I can't speculate much further than saying that. I have emailed the proper people, but understand, the office is in Madrid, so it may be tomorrow before they can have a look. I do know that in some cases, they have had to generate a license manually.

It's the standard customer login page; I can log in fine there, but I'm not sure if it is also used for standalone Maxwell for SketchUp plugin customers.

This is what I was talking about theres an adapter and some miniport adapter (i changed characters in MAC to protect myself) and they have different MACs. Perhaps when the MAC is checked it's not indexed correctly and the validation code is reading either a blank MAC (due to incorrect indexing) or the wrong MAC.
