JD, I hope you can help me with my botched install. In my haste to re-install the plug-in, I overlooked your instructions to use the setup.exe installer and not the Maxwell.SketchUp8.Installer.msi . Well guess which one I used .......

Now when I try to install the plug-in I get a window that states the installation cannot continue, because no Maxwell Render 2 installation was found on this machine. If you have installed.............MAXWELL2_ROOT Environment variable and so on. What do I need to do to install the plug-in And yes I have maxwell 2 installed (windows 7 64 bit OS)
Sorry about the punctuation I am stuck on a french keyboard ATM.
Cheers,
arne

That message means that Maxwell 2.0 is not correctly installed. This is determined by whether or not the file maxwell.exe is able to be found at the location pointed to by your MAXWELL2_ROOT environment variable. So, try going to your Maxwell 2 folder and running the setenv.exe program -- that should make sure the environment variable is set correctly, which should allow the plugin installer to proceed.

Thanks for the quick response JD,
I tried the procedure you suggested and I'm still having problems installing the sketchup plug-in. In fact the same message appears. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Check your MAXWELL2_ROOT environment variable manually then. You will find it at Start > right-click Computer > Properties > Advanced System Settings > Environment Variables. Make sure that there is a MAXWELL2_ROOT variable in both the User and System variables, and that each one contains the correct path to your Maxwell 2 folder, where maxwell.exe is located.
