Hi JD, please take look at the Arroway .skm Material from Jason.
When applaying materials I produce a bugsplat in Sketchup. This happens only in the German Version.
English works fine. Can I do something...or you...or Google?

Best Burkhard

And a happy new Year...

First, could you let me know if you've confirmed this as being plugin-related, by trying to reproduce it with/without the plugin loaded? You can prevent the plugin loading using Preferences > Extensions in SketchUp. If it only happens when the plugin is loaded, then:
  1. Which Arroway .skm Material do you mean? Jason has made a few different material collections, so please give me a link to show exactly what you are referring to. I assume the collection has more than one material -- is the problem specific to one, or does it occur with any material in the collection?
  2. Please clarify what you mean by "When applying materials I produce a bugsplat." Does this literally mean, when you are applying them, and if so, how are you applying them: using SketchUp's tools, using the "Assign to selected entities" button in the plugin Scene Manager > Materials, or by some other means?

Hi Jason/JD, it is not Plugin related. It happens also when the Plugin is disabled in the Preferences.
The Arroway.skm files are from the Video Workfiles from VTC.
By applying means,: select the .skm in the Material Browser and apply with the Paint Bucket tool onto the face. Sketchup immediatley crashes.

Although it was not Plugin related and affects just a non English Version, maybe you have an idea.
Google seems a bit sluggish in that case, but I will ask them directly, too

I honestly have no clue why this would be happening -- it seems very odd to me that it would only happen in a localized version of SketchUp but not the English... it definitely seems to be a SketchUp issue.

The materials themselves are nothing special, they are made like any other SketchUp material -- have you tried to make a new custom material and apply it? I'm assuming the default SketchUp materials also apply without incident (tile, wood, etc.).

I guess it could be that there is some special requirements for materials made in/for the localized versions of SketchUp but that seems unlikely.

Best,
Jason.

Sorry, but I would not be able to tell you much about that. Best would be to isolate the problem using the simplest SKM with which it occurs, and then send that to Google, along with a step-by-step description of how to reproduce the issue. Better yet would be if you could reproduce it from scratch, not using one of Jason's materials, by creating an SKM of your own (as simple as possible) which also triggers the same type of crash. That would eliminate as many variables as possible, enabling one of the Google engineers to reproduce the problem entirely within his own environment. Unless, of course, it is somehow specifically related to Jason's files.
