Just a heads up if anyone needs to have human figures to go with their product renderings I can recommend the ones sold here
http://www.cadhuman.com/ It can add that little something extra to show scale or communicate the idea of your solidworks model better than just a floating product shot.
Some of the solidworks models of people I have seen offered in the past barely resemble people, and were kind of scary looking so its good to see some new options available.

Thanks for sharing, Eric. They look fun to use and could be perfect for a couple of jobs I have in the pipeline. I imagine they work best kept as clay for adding, like you said, an instructional-type feel to the renders, as opposed to going for a fully textured "real" look. Definitely handy.

No problem Rob. Like you said clay or simply colors for pants or shirt etc would work best. Highly textured people or hands would just distract from the main focal point of your rendering which should be the product/object you designed. Also it seems with people models you have to go to extremes of very realistic texturing and shaders or super simplified otherwise it starts to get creepy if it lands somewhere in the middle.
