Need an efficient workaround

At university I use Solidworks a lot of the time to model, but rather than use Photoworks or Photoview, I prefer to use Maxwell to render final images with. The problem is that the university doesn't have Maxwell, I have it on my laptop. There is another problem in that I don't have Solidworks on my laptop. What I really need is an effective way to get Solidworks models into Maxwell, but without using the plug-in. I've tried Solidworks -> IGES -> Rhino -> OBJ -> Maxwell but with little success, the models are unworkable in Maxwell. Can anyone recommend a file-format / export settings without the need to test every single one over a USB drive.

Have you tried using Save As > STL from SolidWorks?

Maxwell opened the STL file but there was nothing there.

Hmm, seems to be working fine here. Maybe try using different parameters in the Save As > STL > Options window.
