i have seen this a few times lately.. took my eyes of the screen for a second.. all of a sudden almost all material thumbnails from the scene vanished!

the materials still show in the material editor when i select a corresponding object, and they also still show eg. in the drop down of the grass extension, but no way to get them back in the material browser(scene manager)

reopening the file brings them back though!

as usual this is rhino 5, with the 09/13 build

Hmm, this sounds like a fun one. So this has happened multiple times, but it sounds like you don't have a specific way of reproducing it. How many times do you think it has happened, and going back how far in time?

..good question. i'd say a week ago. but i am not totally sure if it had happened on the previous beta already, sorry.

i do not have a definite way to reproduce it, but i believe it could be related to autosave or turning fire on/off, or a combination of the two (saving while fire is running?).
Because it is literally, look away- look back.. things change

another strange thing:

this time it seems only materials are kept, that are assigned to objects. others are lost.

before i did not notice this, probably because i had lots of objects hidden or on layers turned off, so it appeared that materials are kept randomly.

Well, just let me know if you find any hint of a pattern.

I've seen this too but just once. I closed the file without saving as I was worried that I could accidentally
have done something odd. On reopen everything was there again. Sorry, no pattern here.

this is quite persistent here now, i get it every session sooner or later.
i just started to rework an older project and it happens in this file too.

still can't tell you exactly when.. but this time i just noticed after saving.

I haven't yet been able to reproduce it, but I think I've found the cause, so hopefully it will not happen in the next build.
