Trying to import and render a STEP file inside Rhino- BRUTAL

Hey guys - it has been a long time since I have ran into an issue that made me stop in and say hello!! So...hello! :)

Ok, here is the situation. I have a client that has some Solidworks files that are in need of rendering. They import into Rhino as block instances, I have to explode them in order to texture map them. After exploding them the files seem to have unnecessarily high mesh counts that are bogging everything down to a standstill. Do any of you guys have a process for brining in Solidworks files that makes this process easier. I just spent 5 minutes waiting for Voxelization on a 1250 x 1250 px render on a i7-980x overclocked machine with 12 gigs of RAM :(.

As usual, thanks!!!

Blocks aside, I assume that the geometry itself is coming over as NURBS. If so, being imported, I would think it unlikely that this geometry would have custom meshing parameters (i.e. Obj Props > Custom Mesh), and that you could therefore use File > Properties > Mesh to coarsen the meshing of everything contained in the file.

Thanks JD - don't know why I didn't think of re-meshing the entire scene... tried it and it lowered things substantially! Hope that you are doing well - thanks again!
