surface cut off - texture mapping?

I am having some unusual effect where my surfaces seem to be getting large holes put in them when rendered. I have a series of "hill" pieces of geometry, and their tips are getting cut off so that they look like volcanoes.

This is the material (which also looks too opaque in the rendering, but that's another issue):

This is the geometry showing up in Maxwell Studio:

And this is the geometry in Rhino:

I selected a bunch of these hills and added a texture map to them on channel 1 that is "spherical", is this a texture mapping issue? I had them textured as "surface" before, rather than "spherical", but I didn't get the tiling I wanted with the "surface."

Thanks for your help

I uploaded the animation I was rendering, but I think I will have to figure out this material issue and restart it.

Thanks, from the looks of it, I will not be able to diagnose this issue without seeing the Rhino file & associated textures.

I can upload the file, but I just realized I may have an answer...can there be two texture maps on the surface? It appears that the "holes" might be just a large tile of the texture (a scaled up version of the texture)? Correction though on my initial post, I have the texture maps as "surface" and not "spherical." Sorry for the confusion

I had forgotten to change the materials mapping number. This is noted in the plug-in help PDF on page 15, last paragraph.
