Maxwell Render 2.5.1 update

Good morning Jeremy,

I want to update to Maxwell Render 2.5.1 and am wondering if I should choose WIndows 32 or 64. I am running Rhino 4.0 (which I believe is 32 bit -- am I right?) on Windows 7 64 bit so I am getting turned around on which version to download.

I assume that this would affect the Rhino plugin but maybe not.

Your assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You need whichever plugin matches the architecture of the Rhino version you are using, regardless of the architecture of the operating system. So for Rhino 4, which is 32-bit, you need the x86 (i.e. 32-bit) plugin.

Hi Jeremy,

Okay, so I downloaded the 32 bit version of 2.5.12.

But -- I noticed that there is a 64 bit version. Is that for Rhino Version 5?

Thanks.

Cosmas

It is for the 64-bit version of Rhino 5. Both Rhino 4 and Rhino 5 32-bit use the same plugin.

Hi Jeremy,

I'm sorry. One more question in relation to this. If the Rhino plugin update needs to be 32 bit, then what about updates for the basic Maxwell Render program? Should that also be 32 bit or should that be 64 bit (since I'm running Windows 7 64 bit)?

Rob posted a message that it should be 64 bit but I wanted to check with you.

Thanks.

That's correct -- you would want to use 64-bit Maxwell Render if you have a 64-bit operating system.
