can not edit surface mapping?

When I apply a surface mapping to this curved wall I am unable to edit (rotate/scale) it. What am I doing wrong? (Real scale is disabled).

First off Joe ... I gotta

at all the posts ..
___
I also would like to know why when using surface mapping that the all the params are greyed out .. ?? I never understood that ... I usually just end up planar mapping and make adjustments there ..
You would think at least the tiling options would be available ...
JD ?

I've really been having problems w/the Maxwell site today

Anyway, it's weird, I have several of these curved walls and all of a sudden one of them I can edit the surface scale in the Rhino texture mapping dialog box...not greyed out!!! Hopefully JD can shed some light on this for me.

Okay, I'm going to try to reply...looks like server issues going on; I've barely been able to get this page to come up today.
Surface mapping just stretches the pixels over the surface, interpolating between the curves that define that surface, and as such, really has no 3D parameters to fiddle around with. The only control you are given in this case is provided in the form of the UV scale/offset controls in the texture (i.e. Object Properties > Material > Basic > Texture > Tiling > Modify > Tile/Offset, or tile/offset in the plugin texture editor, which is the same thing). For single surfaces, you can flip the direction U for V by using the Dir command's SwapUV option.
If the boxes become enabled and you are still using Surface mapping, I'd guess that would be a glitch in the UI...what happens when you try to adjust the parameters in that case, or if you close and re-open the document?
Also, if nobody has replied to a post, you should be able to delete it...or if you prefer, I can get rid of them.

Looks like the server has settled down a bit

Understand the surface mapping. It looks like the only parameters that are enabled in the surface texture mapping boxes are the uvw tiling and offset parameters. The tip with flipping the uv's with the dir command solves that problem for me. Also deleted the extra posts due to server issues. Thanks much, Joe
