Official scene rotation enhancement request

Hi JD,

I was training people on Maxwell today, and I got dry when I needed to explain the scene rotation.
Is the angle measured from the scene's current North toward the real-world North, or the other way around ?
Is the angle considered positive when measured clockwise or anti-clockwise ?
I just couldn't remember....
Actually, each time I need to do this, I have to open the thread where you explained it, scratch my head a while and then I find out what value I need to input.

One of my students gave an interesting suggestion : a little North arrow would rotate next to a representation of the X and Y grid axis as we change the angle value :

What do you think ? Is this easy to implement ?

+little wish reminder : It would also be cool to pick the scene location by double clicking on it's position on the 3D globe instead of adjusting lat. and long. values.

Cheers !

Thanks Olivier, but if (or, when, I should say) I'm going to do this, it will probably be better just to implement it completely wysiwyg in the viewport something like Studio does. On the idea of picking locations on the globe by mouse, I wouldn't hold my breath...displaying the scene setup in this visual way is one thing, but making it 3D mouse-interactive is another. The fact is that I'm just not enough of an OpenGL guru to do that without investing alot of time into education...and there are much more pressing issues than this to work on.

I would'nt need the picking of locations on the globe.
but an indicator where North is, would be helpful. I solve it at the moment by setting the time to noon and enable the sun in the viewport.
