2.6.2 - Instanced Emitters

Hi Guys,

thanks for another superb update.

I was hoping that I could make use of the instanced emitter function (this would really speed up my workflow) and it was the first thing I tried. Unfortunately although the instanced emitter no longer causes a 'cannot render' error and the emitter object does renders as 'bright', it does not illuminate any adjacent surfaces.

I just rendered a very simple scene with a grid and an emitter cube within a model. The instances of the cube show up a bright objects but do not illuminate the grid's surface.

Hoping this can be fixed, I'd really love instanced emitter models!

Seems this is a problem either in SDK or Maxwell:

Can you confirm it works ok if you apply directly the emitter material to the instance?

I'm getting the same results as jc4d.

I'm applying the material to the original model and hoping that the instance inherits this material.

As jc4d explains, applying a new material to the instance may not be desired as the model may be a collection of different objects and only one of them has an emitter material.

The instance obviously inherits some of the original model's materials as it is glowing itself. It is just not effecting any other object in the scene.
