What works from XSI

I haven't used Maxwell for a while. I stopped shortly after we got off of the Alpha builds on to RCs. I'm thinking about upgrading.

Do the ICE particle effects render in Maxwell 2.5?

pluMmet, great to see you back! I remember you from the old days, you did some great work! Sorry I have't replied sooner, I'm afraid the poor old XSI forum doesn't get much usage, apart from me asking Mihnea to fix things with the plug-in - which he is very quick at responding to, by the way :D

With regard to Maxwell 2.5 working with Softimage 2011.5(SAP), I think most things work but remember Maxwell still needs polygon data in order to render something (even NURBS surfaces don't render and need to be converted to meshes at render time). So as long as the ICE particles have a 'polygonizer' node added to them, they'll render fine. I think you need Softimage 2011.5 for the added polygonizer nodes that came along with the Lagoa set.

:( The big downer is that FIRE (Maxwell 2.5's Interactive Preview) doesn't currently work with Softimage. I think it is possible to get this done but the current SDK doesn't easily allow for this. I think if there are more Softimage users like yourself requesting FIRE then it may be pushed up the priority list...
